我们怀着沉重的心情，深切缅怀我们的挚友——马克·菲茨杰拉德教授，马克教授于2022年1月18日去世。马克•菲茨杰拉德教授生前就职于温哥华总医院，为不列颠哥伦比亚大学教授、中日友好医院呼吸内科客座教授。曾连续多年担任全球哮喘防治创议（GINA）执委会主席。
马克教授作为中国哮喘界的老朋友，曾接受中国哮喘联盟的邀请，数次来中国讲学和交流，对中国的哮喘防治工作给予了充分的肯定和支持。我们缅怀他为减轻全球哮喘负担发挥的重要作用，相信他的研究成果会长期推动全球哮喘防治工作的发展。
我们与全球哮喘界一样，对这一巨大损失感到悲痛，我们谨向马克教授的家人、同事和朋友致以最深切的问候。

Remembering Dr. J. Mark FitzGerald, Incredible Scientist and Our Friend.
Dr. J. Mark FitzGerald, an extraordinary clinician and scientist in the field of respiratory medicine passed away on January 18, 2022. It is with great sadness that we heard the loss of our brilliant, beloved and kind friend. Dr. FitzGerald was the head of the respiratory medicine divisions at Vancouver General Hospital and the University of British Columbia (UBC). He chaired the Executive Committee of the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) and also worked as a guest professor of the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital.
As an old friend to Chinese pulmonologists, Dr. FitzGerald attended multiple academic events organized by the China Asthma Alliance (CAA), where his insightful ideas supported Chinese professionals in managing the disease. His substantial contribution in reducing the global burden of asthma is remembered by all of us. And we believe his academic achievements will have a long-lasting effect in promoting asthma management and prevention worldwide.
We, on behalf of the China Asthma Alliance, express our great sorrow for this huge loss to our community, and extend our deepest condolences to Dr. FitzGerald's family, colleagues and friends.
